An interesting topic, as I am myself surveying for a handbag, and in the midst of looking around, I came across a number of imitation suppliers. Sometimes, when I walk around malls or go to events, there are many branded handbag trotters, some looked convincing while the rest looked like...well, out of place.
When talking about handbags, I don't think everyone gets it, i mean, what is it with expensive handbags? I mean, it is just a handbag...well, THINK AGAIN! Trotting the right handbag reflects a woman's personality as well as economic standing. I am not a fan of shoes though but yeah, I can go crazy for handbags!
Generally, amongst popular handbag designs, the most expensive would be the Hermes Birkin. A piece could be priced between RM50,000 to RM100,000 if not more! OK, ni memang totally a Datin Seri Paduka's handbag. So I am going to skip this one. If you see any normal looking human trotting this, it is either fake or that person must be pretty "down-to-earth" to be dressing like a regular person and to carry such an expensive handbag!

In the same class of exclusivity would be FENDI and CHANEL, where the later has a larger range of imitations.
Photos from www.bragmybag.com, getting this piece as soon as I have a stable career in Architecture! The price? Less than 8k :) *chokes* tunggu lepas dah beli rumah and kereta..haha.
Usually, ladies trotting this handbag are either VIP's or rich business woman(or is just married to one...) or is a professional career woman due to the design being practical. Also, it is not ridiculously expensive as the Hermes's Birkin! You can totally tell the originality from the style of the owner though. :p Not forgetting in the same class is DIOR!
Photos from www.bragmybag.com, these babies going for about RM11k...heh..i know.
The "Lady Dior" piece is popular among the younger users, the privileged kids. Well, you can tell it's original if the kid steps out from a Porsche (or any European car) parked by the valet in areas like Bangsar or Pavillion. This is truly based from my own personal observation. No need to hate them though, they just have spare cash!
Then moving on to the next class would be Balenciaga, Prada, Gucci and Louis Vuitton. The practical and durable bags! Probably my favourite category as the bags range below RM6k. For Balenciaga the most popular piece would be the Classic City Bag going for about RM5,000-RM 6,000 a piece. It's Soft Lamb-skin and is supposedly durable and practical, me however, am not a fan of this design. trying to love it...not able to love it yet.

Prada Saffiano Lux, YES! My target once I have start my career... Durable and elegant...in Italy this is less than RM4k :) Looks very career womanish, no?
Prada, together with Gucci and LV has the same trouble of imitations. But obviously you can tell someone is wearing an original piece by observing their style. An imitation piece could be sold at a price of up to RM1000 depending on the quality and the grade, pricey as well ain't it? So what do you think? Imitation or original? hmmm...
I am not sure what is the popular model for Gucci though, but this versatile brand covers from exquisite pieces to the more versatile pieces, but their popular piece is probably their hobo and boston model. Louis Vuitton is like a must have piece and their most popular model is the Speedy model, going for RM2400 for the Speedy 30 Model in the Paris boutique. This is considered as the "affordable" handbag for the fashionably aware out there, and popular among Architects too, because again, for the durability and versatility.

Now, there are a few other brands that is popular among the younger collectors such as Celine, Givenchy and Miu Miu. My favourite will have to be Celine and Givenchy, although their design are a bit bulky, and although they are a bit newer as compared to the likes of Chanel, their designs are a bit more edgy and young as well! :)
(Top) Celine's pricey tote, around RM7k for a nano sized even and Givenchy's Antigona (below)
Now, not to worry, you can own these pieces Grade AAA imitations for less than RM1k because obviously you will part with them one day (yaknowhatimean)... but hey, if you can put them as one of your materialistic motivations, why not? Think positive, well obviously you are, but the society we live in still does not believe in the logic of buying expensive things, so stay moderate and earn it unless you're born with spare cash lying around! :P
So what's your pick? Oh don't worry, if you have got the poise, even the fake ones can look expensive!
Good night :)
